No one relaxes when Nottingham Forest comes to visit anymore. From being Jo Jo’s number one club, always at the bottom of the Premier League or at the top of the Championship, Nuno Espírito Santo has created a winning team.
On Monday, Wolverhampton welcomed Nottinham Forest to Molineux Stadium with a new manager on the sidelines after sacking Gary O’Neil before Christmas. It is precisely the Armed Forces that will now be reinforced.
Sporting director Matt Hobbs told his own website: “Emmanuel is a winner and he is driven. After the journey, he is still incredibly hungry. He’s the kind of player Wolves fans should love, because you’re going to get absolutely everything he’s got.
“On paper, he should suit the Premier League. There are plenty of ticks there. Obviously, you’ve always had a showdown in the period and it’s the most difficult league in the world, so it may take time, but he may fall back on the fact that his key attributes are akin to the Premier League.
“The fact that he was on our and Vitor’s lists shows that he is well-rounded, good on the ball, physically excellent, fast and a good personality. Then being made captain of Reims has really taken his game to the next level, and you can never get enough leaders.
“When Vitor came in, that’s the first conversation we had, to add a quick one. There are so many games in January, so you can’t afford to waste a month. We have to use this month to be as efficient as possible and we are very excited about this signing.”
Ivorian centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou was today confirmed as the new Wolverhampton player.
Agbadou comes from Reims in French football. He has been there for 2.5 years after the transfer from Eupen in Belgium. In total, he made 80 appearances for Reims before moving on to the Premier League. – The prize must be 20 million euros plus bonuses.
The orange-clad side are in 17th place after 20 games played, but are level on points with Ipswich below the relegation zone.
The next game is against Bristol City in the FA Cup this weekend. Then Newcastle awaits in a tough away game in the league.
