The Belgian 191 cm tall striker Romelu Lukaku helped send the USA out of the World Cup despite FIFA president Donald Trump having made everything possible for a home win.

When Lukaku is back in Europe, probably quite soon after tonight’s quarter-final match against Spain, there is hopefully a permanent solution in place for his future. “His situation at Napoli is untenable, even with a new manager in place.

The irony is that a couple of seasons ago, Paris Saint-Germain offered Napoli 100 million euros for Romelu Lukaku and now it looks like they will have to accept small change.

Besiktas are chasing Lukaku – but are only offering half of Napoli’s price tag

Romelu Lukaku is a real target for Vincenzo Italiano and Besiktas, but the Turkish club only wants to pay half of what Napoli are demanding.

The striker probably has no future under the new Max Allegri at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The relationship with Napoli’s management and support system was greatly weakened already last season.

His decision to return to Belgium for treatment just before the World Cup infuriated the club. With only one year left on his contract, a sale now seems very likely.

Lukaku open to Besiktas transfer

According to Fanatik, Besiktas first asked for access to the latest medical reports from Naples and Belgium – and then concluded that it was worth pursuing the case.

The club has now started talks with both Napoli and the player’s representatives – and Lukaku himself is said to be open to the transfer.

The biggest challenge? Napoli hope to raise €10 million for the 33-year-old. Besiktas are aiming for close to 5 million euros – i.e. half.

Despite being injured for much of last season, Lukaku still delivered 15 goals and 11 assists in 45 official games for Napoli. A solid statistic – but the overall price tag could be a brake on the move to Turkey.
