It has already been a hectic window for the club from north London, with three new players in place and several deals in the works. Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have all signed for Spurs so far.
But they are unlikely to be the last. The club are in talks over more signings, and there is little doubt that Tottenham are desperate to strengthen after two very disappointing seasons in the Premier League – finishing 17th two years in a row.
£100 million bid for Sandro Tonali
According to reports, Tottenham have taken a big step towards their fourth signing in the summer window. The club have reportedly made a £100m bid for Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali – and the Italian himself wants to move to Spurs to play under De Zerbi.
Some details remain before a deal can be finalised, but Tonali – who the Premier League describes as a player with “incredible speed” – remains Tottenham’s main target in midfield.
The club is prioritizing bringing in new midfielders after strengthening their defense earlier in the window. Tonali is the clear first choice, and Spurs are willing to pay a significant sum to secure his signature.
Also working on Fernandes deal
Tottenham, meanwhile, are working on a deal to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes. The north London club faces competition from Manchester United, but Spurs are actively working to bring him to the club in the coming weeks.
The Portuguese could cost around £85 million to sign from West Ham, and the battle for his signature is tight.
Tottenham are clearly prioritising signing one – or two – midfielders this summer. It will be interesting to see if they try to secure both Fernandes and Tonali.
