Wout Weghorst is the player who made Lionel Messi interrupt a TV interview during the World Cup in Qatar to scold him. Weghorst is also the player who was brought in by Erik ten Hag as a striker on loan – with 2 goals in 31 games as a result. Now there will be a reunion between Ten Hag and Weghorst.
This winter, Erik ten Hag chose to take a step back from coaching, after he was fired at Manchester United and lasted 62 days as Bayer Leverkusen coach. Then he accepted the job as technical director of FC Twente, the club he himself played for in three different rounds.

On Saturday, a delighted director confirmed that 33-year-old Wout Weghorst has chosen FC Twente.
-We are incredibly proud that Wout Weghorst will play for FC Twente. Who doesn’t get excited when an Orange player with over 50 caps moves to his club. This transfer is a golden opportunity for us. He is a top professional and the ultimate example of what a footballer can achieve when you give 100 percent,” Ten Hag begins, according to Goal.
“A player with such an impressive CV is normally out of FC Twente’s reach. As a local boy, Wout is extremely motivated to create something very special here. We are confident that he will play a key role in FC Twente’s future success. Wout will give us that little extra,” boasts technical director Ten Hag.
