Last summer, Luka Modric walked out of the San Bernabeu after a “football lifetime” at Real Madrid. Some thought the Croatian superstar would step down in MLS or with desert football, but the playmaker chose AC Milan and Serie A. In his first interview as a Miilan player, he swept aside all doubts that he is stepping down: “I come to win titles”. Ten months later, Modric has turned 40, stands as one of the best Milan players of the season – and is said to have made three demands to stay. Now it is reported that AC Milan and Zlatan will not succeed in persuading the Croatian ball artist.
The 40-year-old has been on the pitch in virtually every Serie A match, with 2864 minutes in the match arena. Milan negotiated an option for further years, but this assumes that Modric himself wants it. It is reported that the Croatian is thriving in Italy and Milan, but makes demands to continue after the end of the season.

According to Italian Sky Sports, Modric made three demands: That AC Milan qualify for the Champions League next season, that head coach Massimiliano Allegri stays and that the club must then present a competitive project.
The Champions League ticket went to the mini-putt Como with one poor point, Allegri was directly sacked, while the club now finds itself in chaos with the supporters screaming for change.
According to journalist Nicolò Schira, it seems that the crisis-stricken club will have to forget about Modric in the future, where Modric is strongly considering retiring as a player after the World Cup this summer.
Croatia will face England, Panama and Ghana in the World Cup, which could potentially be the last dance with 40-year-old Luka Modric, who has previously led Croatia to World Cup silver in 2018 and bronze in 2022.
