Arsenal have parked Liverpool in the intense race to sign Newcastle United star Lewis Hall.

Hall earned a good reputation in Chelsea’s academy before going on to make 12 first-team appearances for the Blues. However, he left the club in August 2023 to join Newcastle on a season-long loan, which was made permanent the following summer for £28 million plus £7 million in potential add-ons.

The transfer was a dream for Hall, as he is a fan of Newcastle just like his father and uncle. The left-back, who can also play central midfield, has established himself as a key player for Newcastle.

He has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, and did an outstanding job keeping Lamine Yamal at bay for much of Newcastle’s Champions League quarter-final defeat to Barcelona on March 10.

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal and Chelsea have outrun Liverpool and emerged as Hall’s strongest suitors.

Arsenal and Chelsea have “serious interest” in the full-back and are “leading the race” to sign him in the summer.

Arsenal have been impressed by his “rapid development and technical skills”, while Chelsea regret selling him and are scouting a possible reunion.

Liverpool and Manchester United are both keeping tabs on Hall, but their interest is not as advanced as Arsenal and Chelsea’s.

The report suggests that negotiations will start at £50-55 million, but Newcastle will only sell if an “extraordinary bid” comes in. The Englishman’s contract at St. James’ Park runs for another three years, giving Newcastle a very strong negotiating position.

Hall thrives on Tyneside, but the fact that the Magpies will be knocked out of the Champions League next season has led to him being linked with an exit – along with other top players such as Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães and Anthony Gordon.

It is not surprising that there is so much speculation surrounding Hall, who has been praised by Transfer News Live for his “sensational form” this season.

Lewis Hall is in demand

It emerged on March 15 that Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to fight over a potential deal worth £70 million for the 21-year-old.

Three days later, it was claimed that he is one of four Newcastle players monitored by Arsenal.

Hall has even been scouted by Real Madrid, according to reports in Spanish media.
