The incident is said to have happened between games against Alavés and Betis, and is the latest in a series of internal conflicts at the Spanish big club this season.

In addition, tension has reportedly arisen between several players and manager Álvaro Arbeloa. Dani Ceballos is a clear example – the midfielder has been left out of the matchday squad since a disagreement with Arbeloa.

– Carreras out of the starting line-up

Carreras has also dropped out of the starting line-up, reportedly due to dissatisfaction from both Arbeloa and the club about his attitude and behavior.

The Athletic, on the other hand, confirms that an incident has taken place between Rüdiger and a first-team player – without naming the person. Antonio Rüdiger – the road from Rome via Stuttgart and Chelsea to the top of the world

Antonio Rüdiger is today one of the world’s most respected centre-backs, but the road to the top has been anything but easy.

  • VfB Stuttgart (2012–2016): Rüdiger started his career at Stuttgart, where he fought his way up from the youth ranks to become a central piece in a young and vulnerable team. He distinguished himself with physicality, aggressiveness and a will to win that stood out.
  • Roma (2016–2017): After his transfer to Italian Roma, Rüdiger made the step up to European top football. Under the leadership of Luciano Spalletti, he became an important part of the defence and learned discipline and tactical understanding – qualities that would later become his trademark in the Premier League.
  • Chelsea (2017–2022): The move to Chelsea was the start of really putting his name on the map. Rüdiger helped win the FA Cup, Europa League and not least the Champions League in 2021, under Thomas Tuchel. In London, he evolved from a talented stopper to an absolute leader – known for his immense charisma, dangerous breakthroughs and relentless tackles.
  • Real Madrid (2022–): As a Bosman player (free transfer), Rüdiger joined Real Madrid. There he has continued to dominate – despite tough competition from Éder Militão, David Alaba and now Carreras, among others. Rüdiger has won both La Liga and the Champions League with Madrid, and he has become a crowd favorite. At the same time, there have been reports of a hot head – something this episode again reminds us of.

Despite the episode with Carreras, Rüdiger has shown time and time again that he also takes responsibility. Like now: with an apology and dinner for the whole team.
