David De Gea could be ready for a surprise return to the Premier League.
David De Gea was one of the foremost goalkeepers to grace the Premier League in recent seasons, and it could be argued that there was no better shot-stopper in the division.

The Spaniard joined the club in the summer of 2011, and although he struggled initially in English football, he overcame this and ended up with a Manchester United career full of trophies.
De Gea lifted the Premier League trophy in 2013, as well as one FA Cup, one Europa League and two EFL Cups during his tenure in the Red Devils’ shirt.
Still, towards the end of his career at United, it seemed as if the fans were happy that he was leaving the club. The reason was the belief that even though he was a fantastic shot-stopper, modern football had moved on – and he wasn’t good enough with the ball at his feet.
The Red Devils replaced him with André Onana, and De Gea went to Italy to play for Serie A club Fiorentina, where he has spent the last two seasons.
Now, it is reported that he could be ready for a return to the Premier League, as Newcastle United are said to be interested in bringing the Spaniard to the club, according to Alan Nixon on Patreon.

David de Gea
There is a perception that the “Magpies” want to move on without Nick Pope, who has been a reliable choice for several seasons. However, injuries have started to become a problem for the England international goalkeeper.
Aaron Ramsdale is also at the club on loan, but it could still be cheaper to bring De Gea to the North East of England.
The 35-year-old will not be a long-term solution for the Magpies, but he can act as a temporary transfer until they find a goalkeeper who can be considered their first goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.
Newcastle supporters will be interested to know that De Gea has been a key player for Fiorentina since joining the club. However, the season has not been a joy for the Italian club this year, as they fight to avoid relegation from Serie A.
His first season was far better, as the club finished sixth in the division and qualified for the Europa Conference League.
De Gea also doesn’t want to be a player they can sign for free, but there is hope that he can be brought in for a relatively low fee, as he has signed a contract extension that lasts until 2028.
