The Netherlands are out of the World Cup before the fun started, but one of the bright spots in the orange shirt was a “Championship player”. Now work is underway to bring West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville back to the Premier League, or rather Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have had a frustrating summer so far. After pulling out of deals for Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes – both due to costs – they have now been forced to set up a new shopping list for midfielders. Although Manchester United are still prioritising midfield recruitments, the Red Devils are also in the market for a left-winger to bolster their attack.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, United have started talks with West Ham about a transfer of around £50 million on Crysencio Summerville: “Manchester United are opening talks with West Ham about Crysencio Summerville. Direct contact between clubs. Sources at Manchester United classify this as exploratory at this stage, but the Dutch winger is highly rated at United.”

The English journalist adds: “Any bid could be conditional on Marcus Rashford being sold.”

Then we will see if United find a buyer for Rashford, with his sky-high wage expectations, and go to work to bring the Dutch 24-year-old to Old Trafford.
