The huge success of BK Häcken with Allsvenskan gold brought veteran coach Per-Mathias Høgmo to Japan, of all places, to the big club Urawa Red Diamonds. – It went so well, in the summer of 2024 after 28 games he was fired, one less than in Molde which he took over in the winter of 2025.

Now he has managed to get fired again, even though his PPM was 180, which is actually almost as good as during his time at BK Häcken.

Aftonbladet was the first to write that the Norwegian coach will be finished in Bulgaria.

Per-Mathias Høgmo has been fired in Ludogorets.

Bulgarian media have earlier today reported that the former Norwegian national team coach is expected to lose his job as head coach of the Bulgarian big club.

Aftonbladet further writes that the team will be led by Høgmo’s former assistant, Mikael Stahre, in Monday’s match against CSKA Sofia.

Far behind the league leader

Ludogorets failed to win the league title this year. Although the team was far behind league leader Levski Sofia when the Norwegian took over, his fate should now be sealed.

The club from Razgrad – a city in the northeastern part of Bulgaria – did win the Super Cup this season, but are now fighting to qualify for European play next season. However, it will be without Høgmo at the helm.

Battle for Europe – without Høgmo

If Ludogorets win Monday’s game, they will at least have a place in the play-off qualification for Europe next year.

Høgmo joined the club in November, after he was also fired in Molde as a result of a disappointing start to last year’s season. Now a new adventure is over.

Per-Mathias Høgmo has led almost all age-specific national teams as well as the Norwegian men’s and women’s national teams. The 66-year-old has also led Tromsø on several occasions, Rosenborg, Fredrikstad and Djurgården.
