The new AC Milan manager wants immediate reinforcements from his old club – and has already pointed out two stars he knows and trusts.
Rúben Amorim was recently hired as the new head coach of Milan, and now Italian media are reporting that the Portuguese wants to bring two trusted players from his time at Sporting CP to the San Siro.

Amorim wants Morten Hjulmand and Francisco Trincão to AC Milan
Milan officially announced the appointment of Amorim as head coach on Tuesday evening, the day after Massimiliano Allegri left the club at the end of the 2025/26 season. Reports suggest that the Portuguese has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months.
Although Milan are still on the hunt for both a new technical director and a new sporting director – after Markus Krösche does not arrive from Eintracht Frankfurt – Italian media claim that Amorim has already identified two signings he wants the club to complete this summer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia, the first Sporting CP midfielder is Morten Hjulmand, who spent two and a half seasons in Italy with Lecce in both Serie A and Serie B.
The Dane left Lecce for Sporting in a deal worth up to €21 million including bonuses, after his first impressive season in top Italian football.

Amorim worked with Hjulmand in Portugal before leaving the club to become head coach at Manchester United, and Di Marzio adds that the coach also wanted to bring the Dane to Old Trafford at the time.
While Sporting CP were not open to selling Hjulmand last summer, Di Marzio now claims that there is far more room for negotiations in the summer of 2026.
The same report claims that Amorim also hopes to bring Portugal international Francisco Trincão to the San Siro.
The 26-year-old has spent the last four seasons at Sporting after struggling to establish himself at Barcelona, and has since recorded 47 goals and 38 assists in 208 appearances in all competitions.
He was also coached by Amorim before the Portuguese left for Manchester United, and the coach should appreciate that his compatriot can comfortably cover all three attacking roles behind a striker.
