When you have 400 Premier League games on your CV, you deserve legend status, 47-year-old Damien Duff is now set to return to the top flight, this time as assistant coach of England’s 9th best club.
After retiring as a player in 2015, Duff has had tasks as head coach of Shelbourne, as well as being an assistant for Ireland and Celtic. Now the next challenge is served by a Premier League coach who knows the Irishman well.

Brentford appoint Damien Duff as assistant coach
“I’ve known Damien for a long time. I have followed him closely throughout his coaching career. We have attended courses together and worked together as coaches on the Irish national team,” Brentford coach Keith Andrews begins to the club’s website.

“Damien brings experience, authority and a high level of detail to our coaching staff. He will be a strong addition to the talented group we already have and I am very happy that he is joining us,” says a very happy Brentford coach.
As an active player, Damien Duff played for Blackburn, Fulham, Chelsea and Newcastle, among others. It was also 100 caps for Ireland.
