The Blues were beaten 3-0 by title challengers Manchester City in the league on Sunday. That means Liam Rosenior’s side have now won just one of their last seven games in the tournament.

The Englishman is under pressure to turn the team’s fortunes around, but it seems that the club’s management is already looking at potential replacements for the 41-year-old.

According to TEAMtalk, both Chelsea and Arsenal – along with several other clubs – are on the lookout for Cesc Fàbregas, who has had great success as manager of Italian side Como.

Why they’re paying attention

Fàbregas played for both Arsenal and Chelsea in his active career, and has now started a promising coaching career since he retired.

After ending his playing career at Como, the Spaniard first led the club’s U19 team, before briefly taking over the first team in 2023.

After that, Fàbregas served as assistant manager for about seven months, before being appointed Como’s head coach in July 2024.

The former Spain international has won 36 of his 81 games as coach of the Italian team. This season in particular has been very successful.

Como are currently in fifth place in Serie A and are on course for their best season in over 70 years. Fàbregas’ efforts do not go unnoticed.

Chelsea are reportedly keeping an eye on the Como boss and have been impressed by his rapid development as manager of the Italian team.

Arsenal – another of his former clubs – are also keeping an eye on possible replacements for Mikel Arteta. Fàbregas will enter the final year of his current contract in the coming months.

Despite this, Fàbregas himself is rumoured to be fully committed to his current role, where he has a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season.
