The Norwegian national team and Norwegian fans have behaved exemplary ahead of and throughout the World Cup so far. We have “Viking-rowing” in high temperatures we do not usually have here almost up at the North Pole and we have come further in a World Championships than ever before. – And yes, not to forget Norway sent Brazil out of the World Cup.
Sporten.com would like to take this opportunity to thank the Norwegian national team and the Norwegian fans. – It has been a real pleasure, but FIFA does not get a medal from us, nor the one host nation USA, which has proven they are not a football nation.

In the match between England and Norway, Norway’s Crown Prince Håkon Magnus appeared in the stands, but unfortunately in a completely different place than he should be.
As English newspapers write the next day: Norwegian royals in FIFA’s box – England fans rage against Infantino
The FIFA president’s choice of sidekick during Norway-England makes English supporters see red, well the same goes for Norwegian fans, but with a completely different sign.
You have to be impressed by the Crown Prince and his ability to talk to Gianni Infantino for a full two hours, probably in a pleasant way. Personally, I think he has received a proper Vålerenga greeting from yours truly.
I’m incredibly tired of assholes who do everything to ruin what is beautiful.
Gianni Infantino is constantly at the centre of controversy in the most nerve-wracking phase of the World Cup finals. And the choice of company during the quarter-final between Norway and England has provoked strong reactions.
Right from the start, Infantino has caused a stir. Together with Donald Trump, he has taken a leading role in this World Cup, setting new precedents for political interference in football.
And with a bizarre rule that forces him to appear on the broadcasts – which means thousands of air miles to be a ubiquitous figure across the US, Canada and Mexico – he was once again caught on camera during England-Norway.
But where he has previously been seen in prominent company, the choice of sidekick in the decisive knockout match was what really got English supporters boiling.
FIFA is blind on purpose to the scandal that delivered England the victory over Norway
Norwegian crown prince next to FIFA chief
Infantino’s lodge is often filled with football royalty, and England-Norway was no exception. Ronaldo Nazário (R9), Kaká, Alessandro Del Piero and Cafu all took their places behind the FIFA president.
But there was a different type of royal sitting next to Infantino this time: Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon Magnus was photographed right next to him.
The FIFA president’s supposedly neutral choice to have a figure like the crown prince by his side was immediately ridiculed by English fans who shouted “bias”.
“Infantino is sitting next to his special guest – only Norway’s crown prince, damn it. Not biased at all – he doesn’t even hide it,” one fan wrote on social media.
Another added: “Infantino obviously shouldn’t be sitting with Norway’s crown prince.”
A third person wrote, “Norway’s crown prince happened to be seated right next to Infantino – almost as if he knows who to congratulate at the end of this match.”
Others addressed the VAR decisions, such as the overturned penalty against Djed Spence.
“Not surprised by any of the decisions in this match when you have Norway’s crown prince next to Infantino,” wrote a fourth person.
“What can they talk about? – Beauty and the Beast”
Klopp and the European Parliament react
The FIFA president has already faced strong opposition from Jürgen Klopp, among others, for his decisions throughout the World Cup so far, and the pressure continues to mount.
Infantino has even forced 72 members of the European Parliament to act – they recently wrote a letter to football leaders on behalf of Belgium, regarding Balogun’s red card and the appeal.
Despite their side-by-side performance with Norway’s crown prince and two highly controversial refereeing/VAR decisions, England still secured their ticket to the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory, thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham.
Well, now everyone can row home to Norway again, knowing that there was a headwind all the way. The Norwegian Football Association should immediately start working to find a worthy counter-candidate to Gianni Infantino because this is not sustainable.
