John Stones will leave Manchester City in the summer, bringing an unforgettable and highly successful decade at the Etihad to an end.


Stones joined City in 2016, where the English centre-back became Pep Guardiola’s second signing, and has now made 293 appearances in what has been a fantastic decade of service so far.

To date, Stones has helped City win 19 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, two FA Cup triumphs, five Carabao Cup victories, three Community Shields, a FIFA Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup winner’s medal.

“This will be my home for the rest of my life”

Previously, it has been reported that Manchester City are unlikely to offer John Stones an extended contract, and the current deal expires in the summer. Now it has been confirmed that there will be no continuation between the parties.

“I came as a child and leave as a man, but this will be my home for the rest of my life. I’ve lived out all my dreams here,” says the 31-year-old in a video on Instagram.

Stones arrived in 2016 – linked with Everton return

Stones arrived at Manchester City in 2016, when he was brought in from Everton. The centre-back, who has also been used as a defensive midfielder, has been linked with a return to the Toffees.

With City, the Stones have won the Premier League six times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup five times and the Champions League on one occasion – in 2023. He is listed for 293 games for the club at the moment.

This season, there have been only seven appearances in the league due to injury problems.

Previously, it has been announced that another stalwart, team captain Bernardo Silva, will also leave the club in the summer.
