Vinicius Junior insists that he is “not in a hurry” to sign a new contract.
Vinicius has just completed a difficult season at Real Madrid, who for the second season in a row failed to win a single major trophy. The team finished eight points behind league champion Barcelona.

The Brazilian was criticised for the way he reacted when he was substituted in the October clash against Barcelona – a crucial event in Xabi Alonso’s short tenure as Real Madrid boss. Real Madrid’s season was also marked by Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe failing to deliver their best when playing in the same attacking line.
Vinicius updates on the contract situation
This has led to speculation as to whether Real Madrid could benefit from selling one of their star strikers – especially since Vinicius’ contract expires at the end of the 2026/27 season.
In an interview with Caze TV, Vinicius insisted that he is not in a hurry to sign a new deal, and that he is “calm” with his situation at Real Madrid.
“I’m not in a hurry to renew my contract,” Vinicius said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
“I am connected to the club until 2027. So between now and 2027, there is still a lot that Madrid and I will discuss.
“Madrid are calm, I’m calm. The president trusts me, and I trust him. That’s all. We just have to wait, live every day and every moment – and enjoy being at the best club in the world.

Vinicius supports Mbappe
Despite rumors that Vinicius and Mbappe do not have a close relationship, Vinicius insists that the reality is completely different. He believes his teammate can become a legend at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“I’ve always had a good relationship with Mbappe, also off the pitch,” Vinicius added.
“I used to send him a lot of messages asking him to come to Madrid. We still haven’t been able to play as well together as we’d like, or win titles – but we’re going to turn this situation around.
“He’s a great person. He always defends me in interviews and on the pitch, like he did against Benfica. I would also defend him. He is a legendary player who will define an entire era in Madrid.
Ready for the World Cup with Brazil
After being named in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad, Vinicius will look to play an important role in his country’s quest to win a sixth World Cup this summer.
The Seleçao open the championship against Morocco on June 13, before facing Haiti and Scotland in the last two group games.
