Before the Brighton game on Tuesday, Liam Rosenior spoke about “the fantastic support” he had from the club management. A 3-0 loss and fifth game without scoring, obviously changed this. On Wednesday evening, the Englishman had been fired as Chelsea manager.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to express our gratitude to Liam and his support staff for the effort they have put in during their time at the club,” the London club wrote on their website. A really nice farewell message, which once again puts the spotlight on what on earth the club owners and management are up to at Stamford Bridge.

We love Chelsea as a club, but when the owners dump Thomas Tuchel after leading the club to the Champions League title, bring in the long-term solution, Graham Potter, and then fire the Englishman after just under seven months. Then Mauricio Pochettino is pushed out, after what actually ended with a good Premier League season in the Argentine’s first season as Chelsea manager. Then the genius Enzo Maresco is brought in, who later leads the club to the big prize money with a title in the Club World Cup – and then provokes a conflict with the Italian coach. We get completely out of breath from pulling the summary, but are not quite finished. Because then Rosenior will be brought in on contract until 2032.
106 days later, Rosenior has also been fired.
