West Ham drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace – and thus Wolverhampton are ready for relegation to the Championship
Before Monday’s London derby, the premises were clear: At least one point for West Ham would mean the end of Wolves’ hopes of staying in the English top flight.

Boring match with big consequences!
When the referee blew the final whistle at Selhurst Park, the scoreboard was still 0-0. That one point saw the Hammers climb to 33 points – a total Wolves can’t possibly make up in the five remaining league rounds.
The “Wolves” were promoted from the Championship in 2018. As newcomers, they shocked everyone with a sensational seventh place finish in the 18/19 season – a feat they repeated the following year.
But this season has been a completely different story. It took a total of 20 league rounds before the team won its first game. A historically poor performance.
A message to supporters from chairman Nathan Shi after the club’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed tonight.
“The confirmation of our relegation is a difficult moment for everyone associated with Wolves. While this is a deeply disappointing result, work has been underway since I arrived in December to ensure that we are ready to respond with clarity and conviction.
“We are clear about what needs to be improved and our focus is now on strengthening the club, building momentum and creating a team our supporters can believe in. We know what is required and will face the coming months with a purposeful eye.
“We know that this season has tested their loyalty and patience. Their support, both at home and away, has not been taken for granted. You deserve better, and giving you a club you can be truly proud of is what drives everything we do from now on.”
“Wolves are the first team in the history of the English top flight, since Bolton Wanderers in the 1902/1903 season, to have played 19 games from the start of the season without a win,” writes the BBC.
West Ham’s point was also a huge disappointment for Tottenham, who are still two points behind their city rival at the bottom of the table.
